Description
Räuberschnitzel is a quick and easy skillet dish featuring tender schnitzels with colorful peppers, mushrooms, bacon, and a creamy sauce enriched with tomato paste and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 6 schnitzels (~150 g each, e.g., turkey or pork)
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 200 g mushrooms
- 3 bell peppers (red, yellow, green)
- 4-5 pickles
- 100 g diced bacon
- 200 g sour cream
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp thyme
- 2 tsp sweet paprika
- 400 ml poultry broth
- ½ bunch parsley
- 1 tbsp oil for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Season schnitzels with salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika and lightly brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté diced onion, garlic, and bacon until fragrant.
- Add mushrooms, bell peppers, and pickles and cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste and poultry broth, bring to a simmer.
- Add schnitzels back to the pan and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Stir in sour cream and cook until heated through. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use turkey or pork schnitzels depending on preference.
- Serve with rice, noodles, or potatoes for a complete meal.
