Description

This Spätzle-Pfanne is a hearty and creamy skillet dish combining fresh Spätzle, sautéed onions, garlic, mushrooms, optional chicken, and melted cheese, finished with cream and fresh parsley.


Ingredients

  • 500 g fresh Spätzle (or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil for frying
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 200 g cooked chicken (optional), diced
  • 150 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 100 g grated cheese (Emmental or Gouda)
  • 100 ml cream or creme fraiche
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • A splash of lemon juice (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until softened.
  4. Add cooked chicken if using, then add Spätzle and stir to combine.
  5. Pour in cream and sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Add grated cheese and cook until melted and creamy.
  7. Finish with a splash of lemon juice and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit the chicken.
  • Use a mix of cheeses for extra flavor.
