Description
This Spätzle-Pfanne is a hearty and creamy skillet dish combining fresh Spätzle, sautéed onions, garlic, mushrooms, optional chicken, and melted cheese, finished with cream and fresh parsley.
Ingredients
- 500 g fresh Spätzle (or homemade)
- 2 tbsp butter or oil for frying
- 1 onion, diced
- 2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 200 g cooked chicken (optional), diced
- 150 g mushrooms, sliced
- 100 g grated cheese (Emmental or Gouda)
- 100 ml cream or creme fraiche
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- A splash of lemon juice (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant and translucent.
- Add mushrooms and cook until softened.
- Add cooked chicken if using, then add Spätzle and stir to combine.
- Pour in cream and sprinkle paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Add grated cheese and cook until melted and creamy.
- Finish with a splash of lemon juice and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the chicken.
- Use a mix of cheeses for extra flavor.
